Feb 22 WOTD - and Ski Shuttle Bus Reminder

Temp is 16F at 6:30 and an expected high around 43.   "Spring-like" skiing conditions...

Glide Wax:   Toko Red or Swix 7 (colder wax will help with durability in abrasive snow)

Grip Wax:  Klister is in order - Try START Uni Wide, Swix Universal, or Toko Red Klister.

Or get plenty of  grip with a skin ski and focus on the views.

Weather

Friday Night: Chance of rain, snow, or rain/snow mixed, turning to snow.   Low near 27.

Snow Conditions:   Wet, new snow, immediately transforming into slushy conditions.   But no additional precip expected during the race.

Comments:   With luck, the grooming will be done AFTER the precip is finished.    There has been a fair bit of fluctuation in the forecast and variance between the forecast and actual weather.    So plan for the worst and you’ll have a good day out there.

Glide Wax

BASE:   Iron in Toko HF Blue or new Swix Marathon White as a base (for durability).    Scrape and brush.
Note:  Swix Marathon White could be used as a stand alone wax for the race.

TOP LAYER:  Iron in Toko HF Red/Yellow Mix or Swix HF8.   Scrape & Brush.
Note:    If you use the liquid/spray Toko HF Red or Swix HF8, then let it dry thoroughly and/or roto-cork or hand cork for extra durability.

ADDITIONAL TOPCOAT:     If you’ve got a fluoro block or powder (or spray like Toko HelX) you can add these for additional speed.   These are getting hard to find, but if you have some in your wax box, then it will definitely help.

Base Structure:   A warm grind like d5u (or an older i5 or R214) will be appropriate.   If you’re running a colder grind, then add additional structure. As always, use your fastest skis!
